so the light flight discord had NSFW/18+ channels. screenshots get shared on saltminerising, then the discord admins purge messages/delete the channels and 3 admins even step down. thoughts?

While I don't think that light's discord should have had them in the first place because the usual (but not all) things shared under nsfw/18+ are against FR's rules, congrats to saltmining for becoming the new haven for 'puritans with a gay hat' who migrated from dramarising. I foresee a couple of months before all drama will be the same cesspool of unsubstantiated and/or imagined 'user x is a pedo block them!!!!', this feels like the start of that decline because most of drr's cesspool of 'drama' start like this - mild drama blown out of proportion.

how is this related? i dont see anyone going on about pedos, the only stuff on SMR is that 1) someone posted screenshots of their official server having an 18+ channel and 2) the LFD mods taking the nuclear option of wiping everything and leaving without acknowledging any of it. if anything the LFD mods are the ones blowing this out of proportion?

drr frequently blows things into nonsense and, as far as I noticed the last few weeks, drr regulars seem to be aiming to become saltmining regulars - I just think that this type of 'drama' will fuel their move because frankly, drr is a cesspool for antis and similar purity obsessed children and the main reason I stopped checking drr out (like, why would I want to read three pages of various hot takes about which dragon is allowed to bone which other dragon). So there's no pedo mentions... yet.

yeah its a little weird though because there were two 18+ channels, one for nsfw stuff, and the other for talking about like, doing taxes and things. it seems to me one of those definitely could have remained, adults complaining about taxes is pretty uh, well, its not really doing anything.

interestingly the 3 mods are leaving to earth and there STILL has been no official announcement about why channels beyond the nsfw were purged. The general discussions were purged, the art channel was purged, etc. Super sketchy behavior by the LFD mods.

Tbh i think it's a petulant "well eff you, too." Is it mature? God no. But am i gleefully thinking "serves you right, whoever ruined it for all of us?" Maybe. I was hanging out in the sfw 18+ channel 'cause guess what, I'm a cranky old guy shaking my cane at the young 'uns and just want to talk recipes and moan about jobs and stuff like that.

And now that's gone. But swearing, which is also against the TOS, is still allowed. Great. (At least i think it is, I was distracted this evening)

i genuinely dont have words for this tbh. doing a whole dramatic countdown for a ~mysterious~ event and goading people into reacting/getting hyped up, only to have it be you leaving and wiping a good portiok of the server? beyond self centered. how hard is it to be at least somewhat professional about your departure when youre an Official(tm) server mod?

serious q: SMR is insistent that having 18+ channels/content on a flight discord that’s linked onsite is enough to get hit with some sort of account penalty, but where is that in the tos??? i thought they didn’t police offsite content, which is why it took fucking forever for rhea to get banned (among other examples)

If you go through the rules, especially in the harassment section, it is harped on pretty hard "If it's against the rules to post it on the Flight Rising website, you shouldn't be posting links on our site to it either."

By that definition, having a NSFW section of your discord applies. I don't think they'd ban people in this case though. I suspect they'd do what they did to that one accent previewer's links to remove all the light discord links they can. Because the people posting NSFW there aren't necessarily the people linking it on site.

Like 2 years ago. She has a lot of troubled history involving stalking, harassment, etc. but what finally got her, I believe, was her penchant for excessively sexual dragons.

The remaining mods are apparently planning to entirely remake the Discord, which... honestly, probably a good call. Hope everyone can learn from this mess and move on smarter.
