i know ARR isn't a monolith, but for all of fire flight's dom team problems, seeing all the complaints about their non-battling raffle ~merely~ having a sprite and full set of haloes is still causing me so much pain whenever i contemplate what my own flight is going to have to go through.
I really don't understand why people raised their hackles over the OOF raffle prizes and payouts being "underwhelming" because it's not like they were in dire need of support for a fest push. They didn't even *have* to make a OOF raffle in the first place and they'd still get the dom.
If they hadn't raised their payouts, they very well could have had issues from folks exalting for themselves. It took fire a fair bit to knock down Earth Sunday, and they were buying dragons off the AH with personal funds to do it.
Profit exalters won't quit exalting just because someone won't make it worth their while. They'll just exalt to their own flight. And there's a lot of those in Earth, combined with flight size bonus.
You can say they don't have to all day long. Folks don't have to support them and they'll have work that much harder to get their festival week. No one will push that week, but lack of competition isn't a sure win.
I think some people only looked at the raffle before it was reorganized. Initially with the layout it was very easy to miss the sprite and some of the other big prizes.
