I feel bad for laughing, but my immediate and irrevocable thought upon seeing that there are bridles is of those accents from years back that had people pissed off because they were ostensibly horse bridles but pretty clearly just nudge-nudge-wink-wink BDSM harness accents. Aaaaand now there's canon versions of them.
Seconded. Yeah, not every piece of apparel is going to fit with everybody's personal lore about FR dragons and what they are/do, much less everybody's sense of aesthetics. I'd 1000% rather have a dragon decked out like a carousel steed than one wearing pinstripe pants. To each their own.
(Loving the color sets we're got so far, but also, no gem, Swipp, or coli sets. Probably means there's another half coming. Already can't wait!)
To be honest, it is making me think of things like the dragonlance stories and similar stories, where the dragons are sapient, but still have tack so that the riders (which in this case could be beastclans, or other dragons, such a snappers, etc...) could ride comfortably and help guide them (because I doubt the dragons could hear someone yelling 'turn here!' if they are going fast enough :P)
The same thoughts crossed my mind, I opened the full set outfit, started looking at each individual piece and as I opened the last one, the bridle, my first thought was 'canon pony play accessories???'. I am still blanking on how else am I supposed interpret them.
...how else? Actual horse/carousel decorations? The other interpretation exists of course, but c'mon. We've already got all sorts of leather clothing and whatnot that you could say is 'obviously' BDSM gear too.
ayrt Yeah, but 'actual horse' decorations sound very off when your 'horse' is an entire thinking being with a language and culture, and not, you know, a horse...
Dragonlance was one of the first stories I read with dragons that I loved, that have this. (Pern was probably the first, though maybe not, and those dragons aren't exactly fully sapient like dragonlance and sornieth ones are supposed to be). Since then I have run into other stories with dragons where they are fully sapient and fully partners to their riders (which are usually humans/humanoids) and still have tack.
Beyond that, not everyone follows FR lore, so they can have actual carousel dragons (as in statues that are on a literal carousel), or their dragons aren't sapient, and so on. We don't have 'humans' but we have humanoid species, such as serthis, centaurs, even the raptoriks and harpies could potentially benefit from this apparel. We know that some beastclans are allied with dragonkind, we have beastclan familiars who can befriend dragons, so maybe those dragons want ways to be able to take their friends with them, with the friend being safe and still being able to 'communicate' with the dragon through the use of the bridle (since someone on the forums pointed out it doesn't look like there is actually a bit on the bridle apparel, these would just be a 'hey look there' *tugs reins in direction dragon is meant to look* with it having no ability to actually control the dragons through the use of the bit)
I replied elsewhere, but honestly, even removing the dragon bit entirely, there are series out there with horses who ARE sapient and have language (and potentially even culture) and still are ridden like other horses, with the tack being to help their humanoid partner communicate and stay on. They consent to wearing the tack.
I have also seen other stories where creatures like centaurs also wear a tack like apparel when they work with humans, and other creatures that are sapient but wear tack.
The only thing FR doesn't have that those other stories do are humans, but FR *does* have humanoid creatures that could still benefit from the use of tacks.
Made a moodboard shop, WILL design for “certain couple-themed boards” (guess what “certain couples” are from the “All of my dragons/oc's are straight” in their clan bio) and WON’T design for furries, the “goofy looking designs that resemble suits or more cartoony looking characters”. yuck
Can I just say, as shitty as this person is, I kind of find it off-putting Saltminerising has people planning to use commissions to harass someone? Because I seriously doubt any of them are paying if the gay couple commissions aren't rejected.
i don't need to dress my dragons up in full-on carousel cosplay to appreciate more delicate filigree-style decorations for legs, wings, and tails, so i'm all about these
That's fine and dandy but i live in the U.S. south and queer is still a slur here. Hell, my sister calls her son a queer for crying. I also grew up playing a game called "smear the queer" that was essentially like keep away except whoever had the ball was the 'queer' you had to 'smear' i.e. beat the shit out of until they relinquish it.
Different places, different customs, dont make assumptions etc.
Because for one, if this is a younger person (I don't know whether the person is or not), having people harass them by trying to get them to do commissions they don't want to do (or can't do if it is truly a younger person who might have parents that would object) is just going to more firmly cement in their mind gay = bad.
You don't like an art shop's rules? No matter what those rules are, just ignore and move on. If you truly don't want to interact with the person, block them.
Beyond the commentors, im surprised admins are letting these things through, like the submission of someone going to F15 directly because of a submission on their blog. That post also has people in the comments wanting to spite commission them. Its coming up a bit harassment campaign-y.
