I personally agree that a forum thread is infinitely better for communication than things such as discord (I hate live chats with a passion), but why FRD? Quests & Challenges or Dragons for Sale would both make reasonable sense for a hatchery, and are much less underfoot, and since the members are apparently subscribed, it shouldn't make a difference to them where it is.
