Inside jokes aren't funny when folks start spamming them in public channels, though.
Like, I was in a discord server for Star Wars, and two assholes decided instead of keeping their inside jokes between them, they just took over the channel and spent hours throwing their unrelatable/obscure inside jokes and memes around and cackling at each other like fucking chickens.
It got so bad people just left, and when the mod asked them to take their unrelated inside jokes to PMs, where they should never have left, they threw a fit- and got kicked.
Like... This isn't the same level here, but I do not give two shits about personal inside jokes and memes, and when folks start throwing them around in public and basically pushing people's faces in it, it feels like desperate ploys for attention of "Look at this thing we have because we're so funny and so tightly knit, don't you wish you were a part of this, aren't we clever and funny, don't you want to be friends with us for this?"
