They do small, basic updates of "here's some new fams or maybe a couple monsters" pretty regularly, but actually creating new systems happens almost never. Frankly, if you don't care about familiar bonding/collecting, the updates are really infrequent.

This also isn't helped when the gene updates lately have been so... 'divisive' to put it kindly, where they've failed to excite large swaths of the playerbase.
