Yeah, like if it was just being petty they could've wiped the bio completely and been done with it. But they made the very deliberate choice to change that one specific detail of the lore and nothing else. Coupled with openly boasting about keeping them to spite the person who contacted them about the lore change (which we now know was JUST the pronouns).
