dusthides REALLY make me sad, as someone who is a big pangolin lover. my partner showed me a friend's drawing of all the dragon breed heads, and dusthides are so formless that their portrait looked like the base all the other portraits started from. it kinda breaks my heart that it takes tertiaries to give them something that has a more interesting silhouette, since you have to commit so hard to just one tert when maybe you wanted to use something else.
a simple design does have its place, but this one suffers really badly from one-tert syndrome.
dusthides could've been soooooooo good. I'm also disappointed w/the one-tert syndromeness of them all. I was so stoked about pangolin dragons and instead we got... these guys. :(
i suppose because they're so plain, there's more flexibility with skins and accents to achieve effects we'd like to see. I think that's the one feature of dusthides I appreciate, if I can't get the pangodragon of my dreams.
