I mean, Light had both their modern breeds from site launch so makes sense they'd be low on modern priority. Yes yes, imps being KS locked aside it is still double moderns. Same with Wind, though SDs came later

Though I had hoped for Nature or Fire modern, both being gem locked breeds.

This right here, and with guaranteed ancients on the way there's no reason to say Wind and Light have been shafted.

Nature and Fire deserve new moderns way more, followed by Shadow who's ancient is gem locked and modern is technically limited but at least the scrolls are cheap on the AH.

Wind’s moderns are also some of the most popular (Skydancers) and while Light’s dragons have mixed reviews their apparel and aesthetic are incredibly popular.

tbh as nature flight i'm STILL a little miffed that our only modern breed is functionally shared with plague. like, i mostly adore having the intertwined lore with plague, but literally no other breed besides Wildclaws is listed as having its main home turf in more than one flight 😔

(...though actually if the Mirror encyclopedia entry got updated to give them a major population somewhere in the Viridian Labyrinth this would make my day and imo be a way cuter solution than removing WCs' plague connection. but i digress.)

99.9% of the player base will never get to own a gen 1 imperial. G1 lairs are a huge thing. For breeding, for collecting, for lore, and so on. It's a possible blank slate for players to create what they want in a dragon.

"But you can breed a color combo you want!" shut UP shut UPPPP. It only applies to ONE breed it isn't fair an entire flight and player population has to endure a dumb choice of making this a KS breed and attach it to a flight. If you don't realize how disheartening it is to have ONE CHOICE for what will probably be twenty years for a modern breed of your flight I don't know what to tell you.

Fire and Nature are up there for getting hosed but making their ancients treasure base does help. Before auros I did place Nature (then Fire) as other flights needing love too ahead of Wind. I don't agree with how they handle the WC rotation but at least they return back.

Man, you sound like you need to take a step back. It's just pixel dragons and it's not like a dragon being from a given flight actually matters at all.

Move on if you don't like what I post, seriously. Your comment can apply to most posters here as we're here to bitch/gossip about a pixel dragon site lol.

And yet multiple people on the gossip/bitching site had an issue with your comment in particular.

i have always sympathized with players wanting imperials, because they're a really cool breed. i am also completely understanding of the fact that the people who could make gen1 imperials were kickstarter backers - investors of a project - without whom we might not have flight rising at all. i used to fit into the first category and only JUST NARROWLY missed the kickstarter's closing period by two days, but i moved on because at least there was a petsite being made that didn't seem likely to go on life support after a year. post 2010, petsites old and new were in a really awful spot, and nothing gets funding for a petsite rolling quite like exclusive species.

but to feel this specific way - that an entire flight (which i belong to, but don't speak for the entirety of its population) and playerbase is being cheated out of some experience we have been promised by staff eventually, because staff have a game design surrounding the flights and a promise to early investors they want to stick to - is an impatience i can't sympathize with. at the most base of it, we still have two breeds to our flight, and had two since the site began; a HUGE anomaly back then that only light had, and a month later wind got their second dragon. multiple flights didn't even have one (fire waited half a year for coatls, shadow had to wait a year and a half for nocturnes). bogsneaks only received no flight 3 years after the site started because they were invented artificially via mutagen and therefore can't belong to a flight as they weren't created from a deity.

staff wanted to address giving flights with one breed an ancient before starting to tackle giving ancients to flights that had two, and we just hit that milestone when auraboas released.

relax. if fathom dragons are a new modern, that means it's taking them way less time to get a new modern out, but i don't think your comment is about having to wait for light to get another dragon.

SA

to be more lighthearted, i just want to go a little crackpot ship of theseus, because that i have a dragon using the following as lore and like to go pepe silvia jokingly about it:

as baldwin was a pearlcatcher before creating the mutagen that created bogsneaks and mutating into one himself, and that bogsneak is still baldwin regardless of current form and pearlcatchers are born from the lightweaver, baldwin should still originate from the lightweaver and makes bogsneaks a light origin breed.

also baldwin has become a god.

thank you, good night.

must we really need to have this argument again? I'm into g1s myself and have historically cared quite a bit about policies that would impact the g1 market, but acting like an entire breed somehow doesn't count as fully existing if you can't own it as a g1 feels pretty disingenuous to me.

I don't want to get too into the weeds here about policies on how KS exclusives should be handled (it's almost certainly the subject for another thread), but yes, Light really for real does have two modern breeds.

I think you need to take a step back, count to 10 and repeat until calm.

I myself am a G1 hoarder, so I get the missing out on a breed due to KS even if I couldn't care less for imps. I am very much in agreement with the others, that implying a breed isn't proper flight modern because its unavailable to the vast majority of the playerbase is a very bad and entitled take.

Matter of fact is, Light is the ONLY flight from day 1 that had 2 breed available to them, followed up relatively shortly after by Wind when Skydancers released. So it makes sense that the modern would not be Light's and Light would most likely be the lowest priority tied with Wind for a new modern.
We can't get everything we want just by yelling loudly until we get it, just be glad you have the breed(s) and din't need to wait upwards of a year and a half to get one at all.

Also consider when both Light and Wind get their ancients, they'll have 3 breeds available, 2 of which can be G1 with a realistic obtainability.

With all this said, I still wish it was a Fire or Nature breed but if it's a water breed that's also cool. If it ends up being a neutral like bogs that will just be funny. I'm just glad we get a new modern so soon compared to the wait between bogs and obbies.

You're free to say I have a bad idea but it's kinda rude af trying to tell someone to calm down. That is a low hanging fruit that only comes out as passive aggressive when done online. Please don't do that.

'even if I couldn't care less for imps' that is good but others do care. There have been dozens of forum posts about people wanting G1 imperials for a number of reasons. They're valid opinions too even if unrealistic due to the imp ruling by staff. Feel free to disagree but I'm sticking to that Light is getting shaft by having imperials as their modern. End of story.

I wish Nature and Fire got another breed too. At the very least they could stop the WC BS and have them reachable to players 24/7 instead of the limits they have now.

Still AYRT

I do not mean to come across as rude, text is hard to convey feelings through so apologies for that, but you genuinely come across as upset over... What really is just a nothing burger in a video game, so it wasn't meant as a rude gesture.

I am well aware others care about imps, hence why even if I myself don't care I do understand the frustration of them being unavailable, which you decided to cherry pick the first part of a full sentence, which frankly feels as a very disingenuine thing to do.
Imps are a popular breed for various reasons so having them locked away is to me a silly decision, but ultimately why I don't care for them. Doesn't take away from the fact they are still a modern and one of Lights two moderns and even if not available as G1 to the vast majority doesn't take away from that fact nor the fact they are available as G2+. Again the issue on imps is delicate but you do still come across as very whiny and entitled to it, I disagree with staffs decision to lock a whole breed away but it is what it is and end of the day Light was still the only flight from literal day 1 to have two breeds available, so I won't say Light is getting shafted over that.

The retcon with ancients is more shafting Light imo due to the established imp lore with them as the Lightweaver's first children so, I guess we disagree.

On the WC cycling, I just wish they'd maybe do half year or 3-month cycling between both Coatl and WC breedchanges, wouldn't change the economy too much as we'd know when they come back now, unlike before when it could be a whole year before they came back, which sucks.

Hi, I am sorry. I took a few days to rethink and want to apologize. I am frustrated and it isn't right to get hostile even with passive-aggressive comments I was doing. Fathoms are so cool! and I hope Light's able to get a modern within the next ten years. PCs don't do it for me and I would really just like a chance to make my dream dragons from what I hatch at whim.

I realize some of the comments thinks it is entitlement. I don't want gen 1 imperials for gems or money. It's all about creating that perfect dragon like I can all other breeds. I'm sorry I was in the wrong for being whiny. On the plus side, water you got an amazing breed! :)

calm yourself. you can't convince anyone you're being normal about this when you have to respond to people who think you're being over the top or disagree with you in the way that you are.

i really get so tired of this discussion. it sucks to suck. you missed out, just like 90% of the playerbase. things are very unlikely to change. it's time to get over it and move on. if things do happen to change, yay for everyone! but don't count on it.

allowing yourself to be angry about this every time someone dares to bring up that FR is very customization friendly when it comes to the pets (with one exception) is a waste of energy
