regardless, i just wanted to add that this dialogue has me wondering if our attitudes are informed by "ask vs. guess culture" backgrounds. i admit i'm strongly a guess culture-style, "you should only ask for a thing if you believe the answer WILL be yes" type. while obv i make some exceptions in the context of something like the suggestions forum, i still have a strong instinct towards only sharing ideas i that match my interpretation of what "fits" with the site and with the goals the staff have expressly said they have.
…that's a super long-winded way of saying "maybe this is a me issue" because what makes sense asking a favor from a friend is uh. actually meaningfully different from what makes sense posting in a forum dedicated to Share Your Hopes and Dreams for Features.
