free ransomware with your neopet! :D
Me too. And they have a huge variety of genes compared to my other fave ancient (Gaolers.)
Never underestimate the ability of an entitled and healthy FR user to make up disability-related strughles or come up with the most ridiculous excuses to claim ableism just to get their way and make the game more convenient for them. I've never seen it get this bad anywhere else on the internet to the point where I have to be embarrassed for being autistic and having genuine sensory processing issues.
(long-reply-to-your-long-post-about-ancient-apparel-anon here 🤝)
while I wouldn't dare speculate on a timeline, we've been increasingly seeing proprietary ancient genes get released on a wider scale! mosaic/breakup and flecks for moderns are of course the most prominent (and relevant to your interests) examples, but imo the fact that previously totally unique ancient genes are being offered to other ancients is a trend that points to the fact that staff will almost certainly be doing more gene availability expansions going forward.

I was indeed heartened and delighted by those two examples - somewhat ironically because imo Mosaic/Breakup are the absolute ugliest Gaoler genes in existence, but I was so happy to see them get ported over because it meant that the Official Policy wasn't "nope, proprietary genes are a super-special thing just for ancients and no modern dragon will ever get to use them ever". But when we're getting at least one ancient breed every year with at least three prim/sec pairs and a variable quantity of portable pattern-type terts (excluding linebreaking terts designed just for that ancient, which it makes sense to keep as proprietary), and only the three examples you mention in the past four years of any ancient gene becoming a full-blown modern gene, it's hard to be optimistic about a particular one.
(I'd personally prefer it if ancients only ever got parallel genes (+ special case linebreaking terts), to keep cool gene ideas from being 'wasted' on them, but I know that's a bit of a selfish preference.)

love the new ancient but I hate ancients y'know? I want to dress my dragons
AFAIK there is no 750x750 version, the max image size FR has is 350x350. I highly recommend waifu2x though.
omfg i would genuinely pay for this service on the forums
I see Adam is using the dragginz twitter account to post about about himself while pretending it's not him running the account:

Dragginz: 👀 neopets dev buys sns1?
PassionPlanet: Who is purchasing? There's still an open bid of 300, sustaining 200, essentially locking everyone's coins...
Dragginz: en.wikipedia.org Adam Powell (game designer) - Wikipedia
truenorth:
Is this confirmed?
Dragginz:
I can't confirm 100%. But, I don't know to many people that would throw 1 million dollars into SNS1 to larp as the neopets creator.

I can do it for you if you post here again, if you want, but the site is pretty easy to use.
For the basic 2x version, you can upload an image or just go by URL (scry images work); for 4x, you have to save it to your computer first and upload it to the tool.
Happy to answer any questions or confusion, I love that site :)

Nah, sprites don't belong in JoxBox imo

Put your dragon's image into here and it'll double the size for you.
When I make skins, I put this in, get the 700x700 image, and size that up to 750x750 in my art program (it won't add too much fuzziness) to draw on top of.

Ah, the classic "this update is shit because it doesn't conform exactly to my own overhyped mental design"
Same lol. Long, legged Noggle. Though I suppose it is also a bit of a "long-legged" Noggle as well.
( frantic keysmashes of players rushing to dump their Personally Identifiable Information onto the forums first )
Lol, the actual site triggered my antivirus with a phishing warning. I'm sure it's probably not anything serious because my software is pretty trigger-happy, but gave me a chuckle.
Ancients were what killed my interest in the site. Not being able to dress new dragons killed my interest since it removes 80% of the customization (and I'd already pretty much exhausted the older breeds by that point). The site is pretty much just a vessel for getting art with all my old hoarded riches now, and I doubt that will ever change.
Staff have said before ancients do not slow down the release of moderns (up to you to believe them) so even without ancients you'd be in the same position but people who like ancients would be missing out.
Longwinded ancient apparel anon checking in again - ancients aren't really a detriment on the whole site in my case, as I've said elsewhere it would take a long time for me to get bored with creating (and breeding towards) designs for the small handful of modern breeds I especially like. (Yes, I'm that picky.)
But if an ancient ever does come out that I especially like, I could see being a little wistful that this particular cool design/concept can never now exist as a 'full' dragon, where without the ancient system maybe a few years down the line it could have been. And it's somewhat difficult for me to conceptualize how ancients don't take at least some effort away from moderns. The quantity of artists employed by the site, and the time those artists have to spend creating, is finite (and should never be pushed to crunch levels) so how can it not be a zero-sum game?
Not saying this is inherently a bad thing - if more new breeds more often is a primary driver of interest for a significant enough number of players that it helps keep the site alive for all of us to enjoy, that's certainly worth keeping in mind. But it seems intuitive that there would have to be a tradeoff somewhere.

for americans, you already can if you omit the zip code :D
Holy shit I've been reading this on and off all day. I especially love the part where borovan comes in to run his mouth in the comments section, this is some A+ internet drama. Thank you for the link!
