some fire v lighting that was, i was hopeful fires size could make the battle interesting/competitive but it was a little painful seeing earth briefly pass fire for 2nd in the late hours last night. glad they got back up to place second at least

I was thinking how close that is to the Fire festival; also wondering if it's a battle with OOF help or more of an in-flight thing.

From what I understand, it is not an in-flight thing, it is a normal dom battle.

in fires current state? itll probably be a massacre imo, unless if they can get a fuckload of mercs or some unbelievable OOF incentives that water cant match. waterdom is a well oiled machine these days and all ive heard about firedom is underwheming. im sure fire has a lot of very passionate people contributing but if last flameforgers said anything its that lots of their big exalters were either disillusioned with their orgs or left the flight entirely

the dom team stuff is so hard to witness. im confident that theres a lot of really passionate and excited dom participants in fire, but if their orgs arent interested in organizing things and are inflexible with funds they're just going to languish. i think it was laivence(?) who made that whole thread around flameforgers outlining all the problems and recommended changes for firedom. it really struck me how the orgs were/are so unwilling to try new things, and i was hopeful that having such an embarrassing callout would be the wakeup call the orgs needed to change things up. i was honestly looking forward to fire v lightning to see if they had made any meaningful changes and if they could hold their own against a somewhat middle-tier dom flight and use their flight size to their advantage but they barely even beat out earth who wasnt even pushing :/ fire members deserve better imo

honestly I do not think fire dom ever planned to properly battle lightning, given that they didn't even talk to lightning's dom team about pushing the same week. It genuinely seems they were hoping to use their size ratio to push Lightning out of 1st without much effort and it didn't play out as they expected. I really do not know what's up with Fire's dom team, they've historically been the sloppiest and it seems the most inflexible dom org. It's so odd

yeah.... i really want to hope that firedom repeatedly dropping battles onto other flights unannounced has to do with their own incompetence/mismanagement rather than maliciously taking advantage of their smaller size. them repeatedly doing this to shadow raises eyebrows though.

in any case im morbidly curious to see how fire v water goes. waterdom has experienced leads, experienced exalters/event runners, and i assume decent bank numbers. i know im likely going to support whoever has the better raffle/prices, so it might be sink or swim (har har) for fire if they cant fundraise to incentivize OOF support to them instead of water.

it's like what happened to lightning - inflexible veterans refuse to step down or grow the organization and the flight just gets stuck

I'm not surprised they couldn't beat lightning bc the latter was taking oof dragons but barely beating earth is worrying, esp bc fire is the next smallest flight

Agreeing, Fire is in no position to take on Water. It sucks to watch. And tbh, it tempts me to move to Water.

It was never meant to be a battle though? Fire was basically doing a glorified profit push

both flights said "conquest" tho, you shouldn't say conquest unless you intend to go for first. weird decision on the part of fire. "conquesting for second" isn't a thing

I agree it's weird and not a thing, it's just that Fire literally had no IF conquest stuff either, it was our usual profit push stuff
like, I have no idea how they expected to beat lightning while not doing anything

huh, i was surprised that the dom watch thread had nothing for fires push and assumed that they were just keeping all the details in-flight, but youre saying that they had literally nothing planned? no raffle/team events/leaderboards/etc?

We had a familiar collection for the bank thing (which we do every profit push), as well as an art and poetry event

The only raffle was someone generously raffling a copy of one of their UMAs (for t/g, not level based)
No IF raffle or leaderboard or tracking that I could find anywhere

no tracking/leaderboard feels so bizarre, is that common for fires profit pushes? maybe im just a bit ignorant bc i only know how my flights dom works we always have a basic leaderboard, imo it adds some nice competition and i assume is helpful for the orgs to understand their own flights capabilities.

agreed, it's like "combat data" in anime except it's actually useful

we usually only have tracking for conquests as far as I know! it's... weird, especially since people *love* competing within flight to the extent where we have a whole event for it with teams (similar to house cup but it's forge guilds)
honestly I thought we were going to do battle of the forges for in-flight conquest, but.. nope
Just disappointed, might move for a change of scenery

I would really consider Water, I joined bc I wanted to experience a new dom scene that was better than my old flight's and I've been happy here

doing this for every single profit push we do (water) would burn people out so a lot of our profit pushes are more chill. we don't always do tracking

we track and have leaderboards for every single push in light, but most people don't fill it out unless there's a raffle or tiered badges so the pressure is pretty low
