it's always funny to me to see "skin contests being open longer" as an argument in these things. not saying YOU are saying that, ofc, I'm more talking about people who are legit down in the mines and complaining
it's like... y'all, the festivals aren't exactly secret. the reason some of these skins look so "polished" is because artists sometimes make a skin months and months in advance, which also gives them time to tweak it when they get a better idea or add details they think they missed. giving "more" time for festival skins to be submitted is insanity to me, because you don't have to start your skin the day it opens... artists want their skin posted ASAP so it can be seen among the first and maybe stand out. none of this is new. none of this has anything to do with artists "not having time" because you have PLENTY of time
it has more credence with things like, coli skin contests, but it's always used in festival contexts too. and the only other context it matters is for new players who don't know, but.. that's kind of the rub? you'll figure it out and then be on completely equal footing
