I collect G1s and love them all, I've got a few that make pretty cute projects or springboard ideas. ill also just post some of my favorite best boys and girls

orchid is a really good color to work with for projects if you like blue or purple, because it goes so batshit in some genes. I've got a couple of orchids. I really love pymorph orchid but I havent checked out the newer genes with it yet

experimenting with stained and pin/trail (though i guess now soap is an option too) can be really fun, even if you use the same color family, i get the best results with dark pin/trails and vivid terts that mute them down

watermelon is a color that goes funky fresh, this girl is watermelon/peridot/mantis (peridot also counts in the funky fresh category but a little less so than watermelon)

sunset also sometimes goes funky, but it's very hard to work with. massive pain. it pairs SUPER well with sapphire though!

honeydew gets PINK accents so it's also a winner in my book, this girl is honeydew/honeydew/hunter, ive found honeydew is a really good green to contrast darker greens

other colors that get wacky to play around with the right genes can be periwinkle, splash, copper, grape, blush, bubblegum, cornflower, orchid, grapefruit.. thats only off the top of my head though
