I'd believe that. Tbh I buy into the clout theory, since they were immediately going on about wanting to get mod in LFD. I honestly do not think they did this because they actually were concerned. Maybe a little concerned, sure, but I really think it was a move to get attention + "influence" in the flight (as much influence as you can achieve in dragon neopets lol)
I wonder how long they've even been in light, whether it's been their only flight or what
