[the 'devs don't play their own game' anon above]

Lol. I agree with regards to the initial launch of the mechanic (it still makes me sad that something that would have likely been universally celebrated if there'd been individual vials from the beginning caused - and continues to cause - so much fighting.

That goes to the above point; it's boggling that anyone who knows how important much of the FR community considers getting 'the right eyes' would ever think an appearance mechanic with no ability to be reliably bred for or applied, and which older dragons were completely ineligible for outside of a finitely-obtainable rng-dependent item, wouldn't cause an outcry. (Heck, even that it didn't occur to them until it was pointed out that some people would want common eyes on a particular dragon just because it happens to be the ideal shade in some cases.)

I'm glad it was eventually fixed, but the long wait was both depressing to people who did want to control eye types and gave a false sense of confidence to those who a) liked it the RNG way and/or b) invested in scattersights/special-eyed g1s/etc.

It would have been generous to buy out existing scattersights for roughly what LAH was at the point of 'pocalypse 2.0 was but, imo, not necessary - as was pointed out in a comment on my post, if you choose to make decisions that you might regret depending on what the devs do or don't do, that's your risk to take. Especially because, as was my point, there have been reversals that devalued things before.
