+1. It is indeed a hard habit to break, but it I find it 'helps' (poor word choice given context) to remember that there are always much much worse people in the world that whoever you're brooding over. There always will be. You can suck all the joy out of your life if you focus on them. Get cut off in traffic and fume for the next 15 minutes, that doesn't punish the rude driver, only you and anyone else in the car. (*cough*Mom.*cough*) Just find something good on the radio instead.
Plus, as you said, often nasty drama-llama people (or whatever the issue is with this specific user) get at least some punishment from living inside their *own* heads. It sounds like an exhausting way to be.
(With habits, it's also easier to consciously DO something than NOT do something. Pick a relatively brain-consuming thing (working on a dragon bio, trying out a coli challenge in a venue you don't play often, finding some newbies to giftbomb or answer questions for) and make a point of redirecting yourself to that when the dwelling starts up.)
