Re: """helpful art pricing"""

Mind if I go on a tangent?

Years ago I used to make thousands off of making macro/micro furry art. It wasn't even straight up porn, it was just giant furries crushing smaller ones. Pure violence. I made a killing off of that. But what people don't realize is the hard work of weeks worth of researching, practicing, and marketing that lead up to warrant my juicy invoices.

I researched what art niche I could squeeze into, what made that art and its customers tick, and how I could improve my art accordingly. I used programs, countless tutorials and youtube videos to massively improve my perspective and realistic blood splatter skills to up my salary and draw these people into my yard of macro milkshakes. I observed what times these thirsty furries were on furry sites to I could make sure my art hit the 'recently submitted' page at a good time to maximize my coverage of new customers. I rubbed elbows with other macro/micro artists and did collabs to get my name out there on their website. I would have super enticing 'sales' at critical times of the year to draw even more people in. Before I knew it my slots of $250+ each commissions were filling up everytime they were open.

So when I hear the "Your countries minimum wage x the hours you put in + extra" I can't help but cringe when the context is on a pet site of all things. I am not saying that it's impossible but, you HAVE to know your consumer base if you expect to get much traction and pet sites are notorious of having very few serious enough customers with disposable income to begin with. I know that FR has a flourishing skin/accent community but I consider that to be a 'niche' community. You'll have to do your research of how to possibly overlap into that community, or see what make them tick and see if you can lure them into your yard to sell them art.

Okay its 0230 my time I need to go to bed
